Welcome to the Faros Marathon
The Faros Marathon is an annual international distance swimming competition.
The first winner of the Faros Marathon was the legendary Veljko Rogošić, and until today the most famous names in world long-distance swimming have competed in it – all the best local and world long-distance swimmers, winners of numerous European and world awards and Olympic medals.
World-class institution of long distance swimming
From a small provincial competition, the Faros Marathon has developed into a world institution of distance swimming and one of the most prestigious world marathons, where world class and international swimming elites compete.
Confirmation of this fact and the cult status of the competition came in 2012, when the competition was included in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame – the Florida Water Sports Hall of Fame – making the Faros Marathon the first Croatian sports event to be a member of the Hall of Fame.
This iconic sports event takes place at the end of August/beginning of September, and in addition to the sports part, it is accompanied by a series of entertaining events, which is an additional reason to visit the Old Town.
