"FAROS MARATHON" – 10000m
Organizer: Stari Grad Tourist Board and DPK Faros – Stari Grad
The International 45th Faros Marathon was inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame on September 22, 2012.
COURSE
The course starts in Stari Grad at Novo Riva 1, in front of the City Library. It begins with three laps (3333 m) on a buoy-marked course, passing on the left shoulder, through the measuring devices at the end of the lap, and a specially marked finish line in the last lap.

Croatian Championship in long-distance swimming at 3000 m for the Veterans category.
10th ACI CRO CUP RACE 2024

The Faros Open swimming marathon with its length of 3000 m is included in the Croatian Long-Distance Swimming Association calendar as the Croatian 3000 m Long-Distance Swimming Championship for Veterans – the tenth race of the ACI CRO CUP RACE 2024.

The course starts in Stari Grad at NovA Riva 1 in front of the City Library. It has one lap (3000m) on a buoy-marked course, passing on the left shoulder.
Start
THIS RACE HAS A SEPARATE START!
FAROS MARATHON SWIMMERS (10000 m) START FIRST, AND THE FAROS OPEN SWIMMERS (3000 m) START HALF AN HOUR LATER.
THESE TWO MARATHONS HAVE DIFFERENT COURSES ON ACCOUNT OF THE LONGER ONE HAVING AN ADDITIONAL 333 m. THIS WILL BE SPECIALLY MARKED WITH A BUOY AT 1500 m.
THE BUOY CAP’S COLOR WILL BE DIFFERENT, AND THE JUDGES ON THE COURSE WILL MAKE SURE THAT NO MISTAKES OCCUR.
PARTICIPATION
- Members of sports clubs and recreational swimmers from the Republic of Croatia and abroad can participate in the competition;
- Women and men compete simultaneously, but the results are calculated separately;
- Each competitor performs at their own risk, which they consent to in written form when registering for the competition;
- Minors can participate in the race only with a signed statement of consent from parents/guardians
CATEGORIES:
All recreational and foreign athletes must present a medical fitness certificate at the scorer’s table before the start of the race. Swimmers properly registered in the HSDP for the current year do not need a medical certificate.
FAROS MARATHON
All swimmers have the right to compete, regardless of whether they are registered competitors with the federation or not.
Competitors compete only in the absolute category (M/F).
First three places – cups and cash prize:
- 1st place €200
- 2nd place €150
- 3rd place €100
CROATIAN CHAMPIONSHIP IN DISTANCE SWIMMING AT 3000 m for Veterans
VETERANS: Age categories for veterans are divided into five-year intervals, from 25 years of age and up (25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-45, and so on according to applications)
All Croatian citizens registered with the Croatian Long-Distance Swimming Association under the HSDP Registration Regulations have the right to perform. The Croatian Long-Distance Swimming Association will provide prizes for the top three swimmers (m/f).
ACI CRO CUP RACE
All competitors registered with the Croatian Long-Distance Swimming Association under the HSDP Registration Regulations** have the right to participate in the ACI CRO CUP RACE competition.
Competitors compete in the following categories (per the CRO CUP** regulations):
1. ABSOLUTE CATEGORY (M/F),
2. AGE CATEGORIES (M/F),
– up to 15 years (m/f)
– 16-19 years old (m/f)
– 20-29 years old (m/f)
– 30-39 years old (m/f)
– 40-49 years old (m/f)
– 50-59 years old (m/f)
– 60+ years (m/f)
Prizes in the ACI CRO CUP RACE competition:
- ABSOLUTE (M/F) – medals for the first three places;
- AGE CATEGORIES (M/F),
– medals for the first three places in the category
FAROS OPEN – Recreational race at 3000 m
All competitors who are not eligible to rank in the ACI CRO CUP RACE can compete in this category.
Competitors compete in the following categories:
1. ABSOLUTE CATEGORY (M/F),

– up to 15 years (m/f)
– 16-19 years old (m/f)
– 20-29 years old (m/f)

PRIZES

- Youngest and oldest participant – symbolic prize (when determining the youngest and oldest participant, all races of the 45th FAROS MARATON will be taken into account).
3. OVERALL WINNER (m/f) MARATHON (ACI CRO CUP RACE race and Faros Open at 3000 m)

APPLICATIONS
- Each competitor performs at their own risk which is not transferable to the Organizer even in the case of force majeure. The competitor recognizes this with a signed statement when filling out the Application Form for participating in the marathon.
- Contestants under 18 years of age need to have the statement signed by a parent or guardian. This statement is signed alongside the application allowing the minor to compete in the race.
- Minors without signed consent from parents or guardians will not be permitted to participate in the competition
- The time limit for the 3000 m race is 45 minutes after the winner’s time. A slower time will result in immediate disqualification and mandatory entry into the escort boat.
- Contestant applications are submitted via the web page https://forms.chrono.hr/
- An application is considered valid and gives the competitor the right to perform once the application form has been properly filled out and the participation fee has been paid
- Contestants who complete the application process by Monday, September 9, 2024, at 23:59 gain the right to compete and will receive refreshments and a starter package
- Applications from competitors registered with the Croatian Long-Distance Swimming Association can be submitted by Monday, September 9, 2024, at 23:59, per the Association’s regulations.
- Applications via the Swimming for All race forms are possible by Monday, September 9, 2024, at 23:59 h

- The Organizer will publish the start list at https://farosmaraton.com/ no later than Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 21:00 h
- Competitors will be able to register on the day of the competition
The participation fee for the FAROS MARATHON (10000 m) and the FAROS OPEN race (3000 m) is €20 for registrations made by September 9, 2024 (Monday) at 23:59 h.
For payments after this deadline, as well as those on the day of the race, the participation fee is €30. The participation fee is paid to the Stari Grad Tourist board bank account- HR5523400091110849156. The payment instructions will be provided in the competition registration confirmation;
- the payment confirmation must be sent to the e-mail address: info@farosmaraton.com no later than September 10, 2024, at 17:59 h
- for payments made after that deadline, a confirmation of payment must be shown during competitor registration
- for collective payments, it is necessary to state the names of all competitors for whom the payment is made
- if a competitor is unable to participate in the competition, the Organizer will not refund the participation fee
Registration of competitors and entries of starting numbers will be done on September 14, 2024 (Saturday) from 7:30 h to 8:30 h, at the starting point Novo Riva 1 (in front of the City Library).
The supreme judge will relay instructions to the competitors on September 14, 2024 (Saturday) starting at 8:35 h near the starting line.
COMPETITION DETAILS
The competition starts on September 14, 2024 (Saturday) at 9:00 h.
The competitors enter the sea only by the supreme judge’s instruction.
- The end of the competition will be no later than four and a half hours after the first start (if the time limit is not passed earlier).
- The time limit for the 3000 m race is 90 minutes after the start.
- Competitors who finish the competition within that time limit enter the official competition.
- Unofficial results will be published in real-time on the website https://chrono.hr/races/20240914_faros_maraton/
- An official complaint can be submitted successively after the swimmer reaches the finish line, and within 30 minutes after the final unofficial results
- Objections submitted outside of this time frame will not be taken into consideration
- The start and end of the complaints submission period will be announced by the judge with a public address
- At the end of this period, and after resolving any objections, the supreme judge announces the official order and final results of the competition
The winner announcement will follow the announcement of the official results of the 3000 m race (at least half an hour after the last competitor crosses the finish line or the time limit expires).
- Timing is done manually and electronically, and each competitor will wear a digital timing chip
- The results are processed electronically

Competitors who are over the time limit for a certain lap will be asked to exit the sea. If they refuse, they will be disqualified, and the Croatian Long-Distance Swimming Association will be notified of their disqualification.
Turn judges will measure the time at the checkpoint (checking the time in the approximately last 10).
- The Organizer will secure medical services and lifeguards at the event
- The competitors are escorted by boats for the duration of the race

- Participation in prohibited suits (such as triathlon neoprene) is permitted only outside of the competition
The following will result in immediate disqualification:
- Shortening the course
- Any physical confrontation during the competition (such as hitting or pulling at other competitors)
- Any contact within the finish line funnel
- Any contact with the rescue boats (for example to rest)
TRANSPORTATION
On the day of the race, a direct ferry line will depart from Split for Stari Grad at 05:00 h (the journey lasts around 2 hours) and depart from Stari Grad for Split at 17:30 h.
There’s a seafront promenade from the ferry port to the starting line (an approximately 15-minute walk).
