By ferry
The majority of passengers arrive on Hvar by ferries, most often in the largest port of Stari Grad and the port of Sućuraj.
Port of Stari Grad
Located in the bay of Stari Grad, this port is only 1.5 km from the center of Stari Grad, 11 km from Jelsa and 20 km from the town of Hvar. As an international port, it provides ferry lines to Italy.
Port of Sućuraj
It is located on the eastern side of the island, and is connected to the mainland at a distance of only 2 nautical miles. It is 50 km from Jelsa, 60 km from the Old Town and 80 km from the town of Hvar.
By catamaran
Hvar is also connected by fast catamaran lines that dock in Jelsa and the town of Hvar.
Catamarans enable connections with other islands such as Brač, Vis, Korčula, Lastovo and Mljet.

By own vessel
f you plan to arrive with your own boat, you can dock in one of the marinas on Hvar:
- in the nautical ports in Stari Grad, Jelsa, Sućuraj and the town of Hvar.
- in Vrboska,
- in Palmižana bay on the island of Sv. Klement
